Friends is leaving Netflix Canada but already has a known new home

Canadian viewers have had an extra year to binge-watch all 10 episodes of Friends on Netflix. However, that’s coming to an end. Friends is leaving Netflix Canada this month.

Say goodbye to all 236 episodes of the series on Dec. 31. You’ve still got some time to binge-watch all the half-hour episodes, especially if you download them. That gives you about an extra 30 days after the removal from the series. So if you have one season left, don’t worry too much.

It’s not the only popular sitcom leaving Netflix Canada on New Year’s Eve. Fresh Prince of Bel-Air is also leaving the service.

None of this has been Netflix Canada’s choice. Just like in the U.S., Netflix Canada doesn’t own the series. It just licenses them.

The good news is Canadian viewers know exactly where the show is heading once it leaves Netflix Canada.

Friends is heading to Crave

If you haven’t got a Crave subscription yet, you’ll want to grab it now. Fresh Prince of Bel-Air is already available to stream, and that’s exactly where Friends will head for Canadian viewers.

This home makes a lot of sense.

Friends is a Warner Bros. series, and WarnerMedia has an exclusive deal with Bell Media for HBO and HBO Max content. Eventually, we can likely expect the majority of Warner Bros. content to head up on Crave or on the HBO addition to the service until the WarnerMedia and Bell deal comes to an end.

While Fresh Prince of Bel-Air is already on Crave (to time with the reunion special’s arrival), fans will have to wait a little longer for the other sit-com. Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox, Lisa Kudrow and their male co-stars will all head to Crave on Dec. 31, where it will be exclusive in Canada.

Friends will leave Netflix Canada and join Crave on Dec. 31, 2020.
