One of the movies that inspired Stranger Things is coming to Netflix tonight

E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial inspired Stranger Things and it’s coming to Netflix

Stranger Things was inspired by many of the classic ’80s movies, and one of those movies that inspired Stranger Things is coming to Netflix in December 2020.

E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial directed by Steven Spielberg hits Netflix on Dec. 1, 2020. The movie will be added to the streaming service at 12:01 a.m. PT (or 3:01 a.m. ET), so you can start watching the movie as soon as it’s available to stream if you stay up late on Monday, Nov. 30.

E.T. has been on Netflix before, but I’m sure there’s a generation of Stranger Things fans who have never had the opportunity or reason to watch E.T. yet. Now, it’s time to watch the movie on Netflix!

The movie is one of my favorites from childhood, and it’s withstood the test of time. E.T. is still considered to be one of the best movies of all time.

The movie stars Henry Thomas, who you might recognize from The Haunting of Hill House and The Haunting of Bly Manor, as Elliott, a young boy who finds an alien who is stuck on earth. Elliott and his family help E.T. hide from government officials tracking the alien.

There are so many similarities between E.T. and Stranger Things. Eleven’s season 1 journey after meeting Mike and the Party was clearly inspired by E.T.’s story and introduction to Elliott. Hawkins, at times, also feels very similar to the town where E.T. is set. I don’t want to spoil the movie for those who haven’t seen it, so I’ll leave it at that.

If you haven’t seen E.T., it’s time to watch the movie on Netflix!

The movie will not be on Netflix forever. Unfortunately, the movie will likely leave Netflix a few months after it arrives on Netflix.

We’ll let you know when E.T. is leaving Netflix. For now, enjoy one of the greatest movies of all time on the streaming service.
