Netflix adds 58 new movies and shows this week

Somehow, December arrives this week. November was both agonizingly slow and the fastest month of the year. Now that one holiday is down and the stress from the December holidays are still to come, why not relax with some Netflix? They are a ton of new movies and shows coming this week.

Whether you’re looking for a few franchises to binge-watch, a new season of a Netflix Original animated series, or a Christmas take on a competition baking show, Netflix has something for everyone.

There are two franchises coming to Netflix this week which means it’s time for a movie marathon! The first is Jurassic Park. All three original movies hit the streaming service on Tuesday, Dec. 1. Who doesn’t want to start their month off watching people get eaten by dinosaurs and watch Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum run while a T-Rex comes racing after them? It’s my favorite pastime.

The Da Vinci Code franchise is also coming to Netflix on Tuesday, Dec. 1. Both The Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons will be added. The franchise stars Tom Hanks as Robert Langdon who finds himself in the middle of multiple intrigue and scandals having to do with the Catholic Church and its beginnings. The movies are based on the book series by Dan Brown.

More in the mood for a comedy? Season 4 of Big Mouth hits Netflix on Friday, Dec. 4. The animated series features the voices of Nick Kroll, John Mulaney, Jessi Klein, Jason Mantzoukas, Fred Armisen, Maya Rudolph, and Jordan Peele. The show follows a group of teenage friends as they discover the horrors of puberty.

In season 4, we’ll see the teens enter the eighth grade and deal with summer camp issues, different alter egos, the joys of making out, and “Tito the Anxiety Mosquito.” (He’s definitely bitten me.)

If you’re looking for something to get you in the holiday spirit and make you immensely hungry, season 3 of The Great British Baking Show: Holidays is also coming to Netflix on Friday, Dec. 4. In these holiday specials, past bakers come back for three holiday-themed challenges that are judged by the judges, Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood.

Besides past bakers, The cast of Derry Girls will also be trying their hand at baking this season. Also, since this was filmed before comedian Sandy Toksvig left the show, she is still one of the hosts along with Noel Fielding.

This week also brings season 1 of Alien Worlds on Wednesday, Dec. 2 and the biopic, MANK, on Friday, Dec. 4. Alien Worlds uses CGI to look into what would happen if there was life on other planets while MANK delves into the life of screenwriter, Heman J. Mankiewicz as he worked to develop Citizen Kane with Orson Welles. MANK  stars Gary Oldman, Amanda Seyfried, Lily Collins, and Tom Pelphrey.
