Best Christmas movies set in each state

HOME ALONE - Eight year old Kevin MacAllister (Macaulay Culkin) gets lost in the shuffle as his large, upper-middle class suburban family rushes to make a plane that will ferry them off to their Christmas vacation in France; Kevin, having been banished to an attic room as punishment, is subsequently forgotten. At first this is a dream come true, as for the first time in his young life he has no one to answer to but himself, and he takes full advantage of his newfound freedom, eating junk food and watching late-night horror flicks. But when the bumbling Wet Bandits Harry (Joe Pesci) and Marv (Daniel Stern) target his house for a robbery, Kevin must step up to defend his home; he sets a maze of booby traps so elaborate that only an eight year old imagination could concoct them. Delaware: Wind Chill

Release Year: 2007

Directed By: Gregory Jacobs

Starring: Emily Blunt, Ashton Holmes, Martin Donovan, Chelan Simmons, Ned Bellamy

Not all Christmas movies have to be warm, cozy and about falling in love as the snow falls. They don’t even have to be about an unlikely Santa Claus saving Christmas or a family attempting to survive the holiday without killing each other. But they can be thrillers about fearing you could be killed by a supernatural entity. Emily Blunt stars in Wind Chill as a college student in Pennsylvania looking for a ride home to Delaware for the Christmas holiday break. She hitches a ride with a fellow student (Ashton Holmes), but they soon find themselves stranded in the snow.

Wind Chill follows the pair on their trek home to Delaware as they brace the cold for an unexpected confrontation with threatening apparitions. Hoping to make it home for Christmas with their lives intact, the duo fight for survival amid various twists and turns. Although it’s not your traditional Christmas fare, and it’s not a well-known blockbuster, Wind Chill offers a bit of counter-programming for those not typically into the sugar-sweet seasonal favorites most of us snack on in December like candy. You can’t go wrong with Emily Blunt in a horror movie, right?
