HOME ALONE - Eight year old Kevin MacAllister (Macaulay Culkin) gets lost in the shuffle as his large, upper-middle class suburban family rushes to make a plane that will ferry them off to their Christmas vacation in France; Kevin, having been banished to an attic room as punishment, is subsequently forgotten. At first this is a dream come true, as for the first time in his young life he has no one to answer to but himself, and he takes full advantage of his newfound freedom, eating junk food and watching late-night horror flicks. But when the bumbling Wet Bandits Harry (Joe Pesci) and Marv (Daniel Stern) target his house for a robbery, Kevin must step up to defend his home; he sets a maze of booby traps so elaborate that only an eight year old imagination could concoct them. Full disclosure: Christmas Unwrapped doesn’t actually take place in South Dakota. But the film’s co-star Cheryl Ladd, who’s best known for starring in the original Charlie’s Angels television series, comes from Huron, South Dakota. It’s enough to give the Lifetime Christmas movie a South Dakota flair even though it was filmed a few thousand miles up north in Canada. Christmas Unwrapped stars Amber Stevens West as a reporter named Charity, who’s tasked by her boss, Janet (Cheryl Ladd), with profiling millionaire Erik Gallagher (Marco Grazzini).

Every year, Erik collects millions of dollars to help the less fortunate during Christmastime, but he’s always insisted that the donations come from Santa Claus. Charity takes it open herself to sniff out the true identity of Erik’s donor, all the while wearing down to his confident convictions and infectious charm. When she does discover who funds the donations, Charity must decide if the truth is more important than love and holiday spirit. Christmas Unwrapped premiered on Lifetime as one of the many brand-new original Christmas movies, and with the chemistry of its leads and exciting story, it’s sure to become someone’s annual favorite.
