You might not remember Disney’s I’ll Be Home for Christmas unless you were crushing on Jonathan Taylor Thomas, affectionately known as JTT, in the ’90s. The one-time heartthrob stars in the family Christmas comedy as California boarding school slacker Jake Wilkinson, who hasn’t returned home to Larchmont, New York since his father remarried 10 months after his mother’s death. In order to lure him home for the holidays, Jake’s father promises him his classic Porsche if he’s present for Christmas Eve dinner by 6:30 p.m. on the dot.
Of course, getting home isn’t so easy for ol’ Jake. He’s dumped in the desert wearing a Santa suit, separated from his girlfriend, Allie (Jessica Biel), who in turn hitches a ride with Jake’s rival, Eddie (Adam LaVorgna). I’ll Be Home for Christmas takes Jake on a cross-country misadventure, including a memorable pit stop in Nebraska. Unfortunately, the film was neither a hit with critics or audiences, but when it comes to nostalgia, numbers and ratings mean little to nothing. The late-’90s cult classic (dubbed so right here and now) is available to stream on Disney+ to relive your childhood crush on the one and only JTT.
