Best Christmas movies set in each state

HOME ALONE - Eight year old Kevin MacAllister (Macaulay Culkin) gets lost in the shuffle as his large, upper-middle class suburban family rushes to make a plane that will ferry them off to their Christmas vacation in France; Kevin, having been banished to an attic room as punishment, is subsequently forgotten. At first this is a dream come true, as for the first time in his young life he has no one to answer to but himself, and he takes full advantage of his newfound freedom, eating junk food and watching late-night horror flicks. But when the bumbling Wet Bandits Harry (Joe Pesci) and Marv (Daniel Stern) target his house for a robbery, Kevin must step up to defend his home; he sets a maze of booby traps so elaborate that only an eight year old imagination could concoct them. Mississippi: Christmas in Mississippi

Release Year: 2017

Directed By: Emily Moss Wilson

Starring: Jana Kramer, Wes Brown, Faith Ford, Trace Masters, Barry Bostwick, Gary Grubbs, Richard Karn, Davina Reid

If you’re an avid Hallmark Channel and Lifetime Christmas movie watcher, then you’re well-acquainted with the typical format of the movies. A big-city career person, typically a woman, returns to her small hometown, where she inevitably rediscovers her love for not only a small town but a former flame (who’s always a man). Christmas in Mississippi delivers on that reliable formula, as photographer Holly Logan (Jana Kramer) comes home to Gulfport, Mississippi for Christmas. She helps out with the newly revamped light show, where she becomes overcome with rekindled feelings for her high school sweetheart, Mike (Wes Brown).

There’s nothing wrong with a little familiarity with these movies. They’re perfect ambient programming to throw on in the background while decorating the house, scrolling through Instagram or even family game night. But they’re also the quintessential option to have on while snuggled up and shutting off your brain for a much-needed holiday R&R. Country music favorite and One Tree Hill alum Jana Kramer gives Christmas in Mississippi an indelible watchability and underscores the heart at the center of the story. Mississippi has never been more magical or memorable than in one of the bright spots of Lifetime’s holiday movie collection.
