Best Christmas movies set in each state

HOME ALONE - Eight year old Kevin MacAllister (Macaulay Culkin) gets lost in the shuffle as his large, upper-middle class suburban family rushes to make a plane that will ferry them off to their Christmas vacation in France; Kevin, having been banished to an attic room as punishment, is subsequently forgotten. At first this is a dream come true, as for the first time in his young life he has no one to answer to but himself, and he takes full advantage of his newfound freedom, eating junk food and watching late-night horror flicks. But when the bumbling Wet Bandits Harry (Joe Pesci) and Marv (Daniel Stern) target his house for a robbery, Kevin must step up to defend his home; he sets a maze of booby traps so elaborate that only an eight year old imagination could concoct them. When you go home for the holidays, they all started to blend into one chaotic experience, don’t they? Home for the Holidays captures the relatable essence of reuniting with the whole family during the holiday season. From director Jodie Foster, Holly Hunter stars as Claudia Larson, an unemployed single mother who decides to spend Thanksgiving with her family in Baltimore, Maryland when her daughter opts to stay in Chicago with her boyfriend. Once back home, Claudia clashes with her parents and her sister but finds Thanksgiving dinner all the more exciting as she hits if off with her brother’s friend Leo (Dylan McDermott).

Home for the Holidays struggled with the box office and critics, evading it from being an annual classic. It’s difficult to become the Christmas movie that gets a 24-hour marathon, but there’s plenty of room for cult favorites. Foster’s second directorial effort boasts an incredible cast that features Robert Downey Jr. and Claire Danes beyond Holly Hunter’s knockout starring performance. Should you get the chance to make the trip to Baltimore for Home for the Holidays, it just makes your travels home all the more special, and even make you want to stay for Christmas.
