Each year, Hallmark Christmas movies are a dime a dozen. It seems as though the network’s holiday celebration begins earlier and lasts longer, and it’s all punctuated by the de facto queen of TV Christmas movies, Candace Cameron Bure. The erstwhile DJ Tanner-Fuller has starred in her fair share of Hallmark movies and counting. More than a few have made this list, thanks to the star’s extensive lineup of Christmas travels in the name of romance, which begins for us in Alaska with 2014’s holiday rom-com Christmas Under Wraps.
Candace Cameron Bure plays Dr. Lauren Brunell, a surgery resident with her eyes on a coveted hospital fellowship in Boston. However, when she loses out on the opportunity to follow in her father’s footsteps, she winds up taking a position at a practice in the small town of Garland, Alaska. She soon falls for the handsome Andy Holliday (David O’Donnell) and discovers that his father keeps a Christmas secret under wraps in his shipping warehouse.
Although Christmas Under Wraps wasn’t filmed in Alaska, its wintry filming locations in Utah bring the snow-drenched holiday season setting to life for the enchanting romantic comedy. Hallmark Christmas movies are mostly cut from the same cloth, and this one’s no different. You know exactly what you’re going to get and shouldn’t expect anything more than a fun, romantic romp in a winter wonderland. Cozy up in Alaska with Candace Cameron Bure for a heartwarming tale of love, belief and everything that makes the holiday season a little sweeter.
