Best Christmas movies set in each state

HOME ALONE - Eight year old Kevin MacAllister (Macaulay Culkin) gets lost in the shuffle as his large, upper-middle class suburban family rushes to make a plane that will ferry them off to their Christmas vacation in France; Kevin, having been banished to an attic room as punishment, is subsequently forgotten. At first this is a dream come true, as for the first time in his young life he has no one to answer to but himself, and he takes full advantage of his newfound freedom, eating junk food and watching late-night horror flicks. But when the bumbling Wet Bandits Harry (Joe Pesci) and Marv (Daniel Stern) target his house for a robbery, Kevin must step up to defend his home; he sets a maze of booby traps so elaborate that only an eight year old imagination could concoct them. You might think that the amount of televised airings Hocus Pocus receives is excessive, but A Christmas Story sure takes the cake on Christmas Day. (For the record, they both deserve and warrant round-the-clock airings!) The fan-favorite, all-time classic holiday film has been known to air in 24-hour marathons on cable networks. We all have our own traditions, but spending the entire day watching A Christmas Story sounds like the best and coziest tradition you could stick to each year. Nothing officially kick-starts the holiday season quite like this definitive Christmas masterwork.

A Christmas Story takes place in Indiana and centers on Ralphie Parker (Peter Billingsley), a young boy who takes on an unrelenting bully while also begging for his most prized Christmas gift, an air rifle. Along with struggles within his family, Ralphie attempts to make it through Christmas without broken glasses or a broken spirit. The film earned a modest showing at the box office but garnered positive reception from critics, riding its well-loved narrative all the way to iconic status. Many Christmas movies try, but few can actually attain the level of ubiquity of A Christmas Story, a true phenomenon that will never stop being phenomenal.
