Best Christmas movies set in each state

HOME ALONE - Eight year old Kevin MacAllister (Macaulay Culkin) gets lost in the shuffle as his large, upper-middle class suburban family rushes to make a plane that will ferry them off to their Christmas vacation in France; Kevin, having been banished to an attic room as punishment, is subsequently forgotten. At first this is a dream come true, as for the first time in his young life he has no one to answer to but himself, and he takes full advantage of his newfound freedom, eating junk food and watching late-night horror flicks. But when the bumbling Wet Bandits Harry (Joe Pesci) and Marv (Daniel Stern) target his house for a robbery, Kevin must step up to defend his home; he sets a maze of booby traps so elaborate that only an eight year old imagination could concoct them. There might not have ever been a year where we paid more close attention to the state of Georgia than in 2020, which makes it only fitting to vicariously spend the holidays in the south with Madea. Tyler Perry’s fan-favorite on-screen alter ego has been a mainstay for years, and she’s only become more beloved with each new rendition. A Madea Christmas finds the lovable lady tagging along with her niece, Eileen (Anna Maria Horsford), for a Christmas celebration in the small town of Buck Tussel. As with most family Christmas comedies, secrets and shenanigans ensue, wrapped up in the hijinks of Madea.

A Madea Christmas was written and directed by star Tyler Perry, who has created a filmmaking empire with his own studio lot in Atlanta, Georgia. Despite not wooing the critics with the latest Madea outing, the film still marked another box office hit for the star, bringing in over $53 million worldwide against its $25 million production budget. Madea’s fans love to share an occasion with the larger-than-life character, whether it’s a holiday like Halloween or a somber gathering like a funeral. Of course, during the holiday season, who wouldn’t want to have a holly jolly yet hectic Christmas with Madea down in Georgia?
