What will American Horror Story season 10 be about?

American Horror Story season 10 was due to start filming in Spring 2020, but, yeah, we all know how that horror story went. The monster in that scenario was the COVID-19 pandemic that shut down filming on so many productions, American Horror Story included.

So for all you trivia buffs out there, file this away in your brain banks: American Horror Story season 10 marks the first time since the series debuted in 2011 that it wasn’t part of FX’s fall lineup. You’ll thank me for pointing that out one day when you know the answer and score points for your team. You’re welcome.

Anyway, as usual, Ryan Murphy has remained tight-lipped about what American Horror Story season 10’s theme will be about. But he has dropped some clues and teasers on his Instagram.

All AHS season 10 hints

On March 10, Ryan Murphy shared a photo of hands grasping at…what is that?

An embankment? The top of a cliff? What are those reedy looking weeds? A nest? And is that an ocean or a lake in the background?

The caption read “Things are beginning to wash up on shore…”

Will season 10 feature a boat wreck? A plane that crashed into the ocean? Did someone try to bury a secret out at sea that’s coming back to haunt them? None of the above?

Luckily, Murphy left more clues.

Elle reported that Murphy had “teased that season 10 would reunite fan favorites,” which I at first assumed meant cast. However, maybe not?

On April 26, he posted this:

Which looks an awful lot like the Rubber Man from season 1, doesn’t he?

On May 27, Murphy posted another clue. Looks like the story will definitely involve a beach. American Horror Story: Vacation?

Then on Aug. 28, Murphy threw a very toothy wing dinger of a clue into the mix.

What in the heck are we supposed to make of that? At first, I thought “vampire,” but now I’m wondering if we’re in for some kind of a human Jaws story?

The next one was actually posted before them all. It was the season 10 cast announcement made on Feb. 27.

The names flash against an overcast sky while waves gently crashed ashore. Another sea clue. Maybe it’ll have to do with a hurricane?

One thing we know for certain from the Insta cast clips is who will be starring in American Horror Story season 10, including AHS faves like Kathy Bates, Leslie Gross, Billie Lourd, Lily Rabe, Finn Wittrock, Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters. A notable name making his debut to the cast is Macaulay Culkin.
