Best Christmas movies on Netflix: The Holiday Calendar

All right, now it’s back to your regularly scheduled Christmas romance. Seeing as how she’s quickly becoming a Netflix Christmas queen like Vanessa Hudgens, it’s only fitting that we include the Kat Graham led, The Holiday Calendar.

This time around Graham plays Abby Sutton, a photographer who feels stuck in a rut. During the holidays she’s gifted her grandmother’s advent calendar by her gramps (Ron Cephas Jones), but unbeknownst to Abby, this is no ordinary gift. Not only is the calendar beautifully made, but it’s also magical.

Each day the calendar opens, it provides Abby with a gift or an opportunity. It’s exactly what she needs considering her job as a studio photographer makes her feel like she’s given up on her dreams.

Opportunity, however, may also lead to romance when the calendar grants Abby a run-in with Dr. Ty Walker (Ethan Peck), a single father whose Christmas tree she accidentally runs over when it falls off his car roof. But Ty isn’t the only person interested in Abby. There’s also Josh Barton (Quincy Brown), her best friend.

Unlike Abby, Josh has been doing what the two always dreamed of. He’s back in town now, but he was traveling and photographing the world. It’s been inspiring to her, but Josh doesn’t want to just inspire Abby, he wants to love her. The advent calendar may be sending her in a different direction but Josh is still hoping for a chance.
