Best Christmas movies on Netflix: Dash & Lily
If you were a teen coming of age in the late aughts, then you’ll probably be familiar with the writing duo–Rachel Cohn & David Levithan–that took the YA world by storm back then with their fun, off-the-wall, book collaborations about teens falling in love and figuring themselves out. Nick and Norah got the film treatment, so did Naomi and Ely, and now it’s Dash and Lily’s turn except they get a television series!
Based on the book Dash & Lily’s Book of Dares, this holiday series sees the two eponymous characters falling in love as they dare each other to do things across New York City. It all starts when Dash (Austin Abrams) finds Lily’s (Midori Francis) red notebook in the stacks of a bookstore.
To Lily’s horror, Dash is team bah humbug. While she revels in the holiday, he thinks it’s the most detestable time of the year. Still, Dash agrees to complete a dare in order to learn more about her. In exchange, Lily must do something outside her own comfort zone.
The two have never met and yet, through their “talks” in the notebook and the dares they set-up for each other, they start learning what they want from life and love.
Dash & Lily will be available on November 10.
