Best Christmas movies on Netflix: Midnight at the Magnolia
Yes, we’re going to keep hitting you with the romance. It’s not exactly something you can escape during the holiday season besides we know some of y’all have stacks of Christmas themed romance novels on your bedside tables, so don’t act like we’re the only ones going over the top with the cheese! Our next pick falls into the classic best friends fake date for appearances category of romantic entanglements.
Midnight at the Magnolia follows Maggie and Jack, best friends who practically do everything together including co-hosting the Windy City Wake-up Radio show. When their post-Christmas family tradition of meeting at the Magnolia restaurant catches the attention of satellite radio, the pair is asked to do a segment where they introduce their significant others to their families.
It’s a great opportunity for exposure. Fantastic. The thing of dreams, except neither of them planned to bring their significant others and then they both get dumped anyway. Left up a Christmas creek without a paddle, Jack comes up with the “brilliant” idea to fool their fans and their parents by revealing that they’re dating.
But while it’s all fun and games to Jack, it isn’t to Maggie. Pretending brings up old feelings she never disclosed, and if given the chance, she’d love for their romance to be real and not fake.
Midnight at the Magnolia will be available on November 5.
