Best Christmas movies on Netflix: Pride & Prejudice
We’re cheating. We’re cheating so hard with this one folks, but come on! It’s the 2005 adaptation of the Jane Austen classic Pride & Prejudice starring Kiera Knightly. We know some of y’all will understand why it’s on the list, but for those who don’t, let us explain.
There is no tale more timeless than that of Elizabeth Bennett and Fitzwilliam Darcy. Not a single snowflake falls in this movie and nary a Christmas gift is given, but if we’re going to be embracing a holiday season about family and love then this film has to be on the list.
Pride & Prejudice has nearly everything that makes up the Christmas movie formula. A meddling mother? Check. A father quick with the sly commentary? Check. Parallel romances? Check. A witty and sarcastic lead who slowly falls in love with a rich, dour, seemingly pompous individual who turns out to be a social anxiety-ridden sweetheart? Check. All it’s missing is the right season and it makes up for that with a ball that’s the equivalent of a white party.
So accept this selection into your hearts and know that we are right to be indulging in one of the best movies in cinematic history this holiday season. Yes, we said it. We will be accepting no feedback or criticism at this time. Thank you.
