Best Christmas movies on Netflix: Chilling Adventures of Sabrina: A Midwinter’s Tale

For those looking for a clean transition from Halloween into Christmas (Sorry, Thanksgiving!) then look no further than the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina holiday special “A Midwinter’s Tale.”

The Winter Solstice is almost here and the Spellman family plans to celebrate accordingly by lighting the Yule log. It must burn all day and night lest spirits be let into their home. However, both Sabrina (Kiernan Shipka) and Zelda’s (Miranda Otto) minds are occupied with other things.

Sabrina wants to hold a séance to speak with her mother but to do it she needs the Book of the Dead from Madam Satan (Michelle Gomez). She’s yet to learn the woman is not only no one to trifle with but also not her friend. While Madam Satan does lend Sabrina the book, she also has a nefarious plan in place.

Zelda is busy taking care of Leticia, the daughter of the late Lady Blackwood whose father doesn’t know she’s alive. When spirits do enter the Spellman home, Zelda must do all she can to keep Leticia safe.

Meanwhile, across town, Theo (Lachlan Watson) is dealing with his own issues. While figuring out his identity won’t happen until Part 2 of the series, he is enjoying his time as a helper elf for Santa. Or at least, it starts out as a lot of a fun until Theo realizes that Santa is more into stealing the souls of children than handing out presents and granting Christmas wishes.

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina will return with Part 4 in December, but until then, let the series wrap you up and chill your bones with a holiday horror!
