Best Christmas movies on Netflix: The Princess Switch

A what to watch on Netflix holiday watch list would not be complete without the inclusion of the streamer’s reigning Christmas queen, Vanessa Hudgens. As such we have to suggest The Princess Switch for your viewing pleasure.

Hudgens plays Stacy DeNovo, a successful baker with a Chicago storefront she runs with her best friend, Kevin Richards (Nick Sagar), but before you start thinking this is yet another best friends to lovers Christmas romance, hold your horses because this story has a twist.

Despite being uncertain about accepting the invitation to compete in a baking competition in the Kingdom of Belgravia, Stacy goes to compete and brings Kevin and his daughter, Olivia, along for the ride. While there, Stacy meets Lady Margaret Delacourt, Duchess of Montenaro and fiancée of Prince Edward the Crown Prince of Belgravia (Sam Palladio). The two are mirror images of each other, and Margaret decides to take advantage of that fact by asking Stacy to switch places with her for a little while to which Stacy agrees.

Now both women are set to get a taste of how the other half lives and while they do, they find themselves falling in love with the men in their swapped realities which complicate matters considering neither man knows about the switch. What’s a duchess and baker to do?
