Best Christmas movies on Netflix: Operation Christmas Drop

In Operation Christmas Drop, Netflix is mixing a bit of romance with a real-life Christmas training mission, but in this film, a tradition that dates back nearly 70 years is about to get the kabosh.

Erica Miller (Kat Graham), a congressional aide to Congresswoman Angie Bradford (Virginia Madsen), has been tasked with determining whether a U.S. Air Force Base’s commitment to delivering presents to neighboring islands is a misappropriation of funds and a misuse of military equipment.

While this task will take her away from her family, Erica doesn’t seem to be in the Christmas spirit anyway. It doesn’t help that she finds Cpt. Andrew Jantz (Alexander Ludwig) to be nearly insufferable…at first. But the more she learns about Operation Christmas Drop and Andrew’s big heart, the harder it is for Erica to believe the congresswoman is right about defunding the mission.

Operation Christmas Drop is perfect for indulging in the holiday spirit while savoring a romance that takes place in a blessedly warm climate. And, though some of us enjoy the changing of the seasons, it’s also nice to remember the sun can actually bring warmth. Besides, a little fun on the sand paired with good tidings and community service is perfect for this most giving of seasons.
