Best Christmas movies on Netflix: The Nutcracker and the Four Realms

The Nutcracker is a staple of the holidays for many who love the short story “The Nutcracker and the Mouse King,” along with the famous ballet inspired by the tale of a child who witnesses her toys come to life to battle the Mouse King.

Disney’s adaptation of the beloved story has the feel of their Alice in Wonderland franchise. Both magical and wondrous in its design, The Nutcracker and the Four Realms centers on Clara (Mackenzie Foy) and her desire to receive the key meant to unlock the egg her mother left her. She nearly has it before it’s snatched by a mouse, and Clara is transported to a world she’s never seen before.

She’s also unknowingly stepped foot in the middle of a war between the four realms that make up this magical place. The Land of Snowflakes, Sweets, and Flowers are all on the same side against the Land of Amusements where Mother Ginger resides.

Now Clara must fight to save the land her mother once ruled or else all could be lost. But there’s something that Clara doesn’t know and not everything is as it looks in this seemingly wonderful world where it’s incredibly easy to discern good from bad. Appearances aren’t everything and Clara may have to learn that the hard way.
