Best Christmas movies on Netflix: The Christmas Chronicles
We’re not going to lie, The Christmas Chronicles gives us The Santa Clause vibes just without an injured Santa and Kurt Russell in the driver’s seat. The story follows Teddy (Judah Lewis) and Kate Pierce (Darby Camp), two kids dealing with the loss of their father in completely opposite ways. While Kate is determined to keep the spirit of Christmas alive, Teddy would rather be a Scrooge.
Everyone grieves how they grieve, but Kate isn’t about to miss her chance at the only shot she has at seeing Santa. Teddy grumbles and has to be blackmailed into it but, he helps her set up a hidden camera to catch Santa in the act of leaving presents. Kate’s plan works, but she isn’t satisfied simply seeing the gift-giving man in red, no she wants to meet him. So, she stows away in Santa’s sleigh along with her brother, which sets off an unfortunate series of events.
Not only does Santa’s sleigh break down, but his reindeer runoff, and he also loses his magical hat. Without his hat, Santa can’t deliver presents in a timely fashion nor can he slide down a chimney or any other tight spot the holiday requires he fits into in order to drop-off presents. Teddy and Kate will have ruined Christmas for everyone if they can’t find a way to turn this around. Not to mention this is grounds for landing on Santa’s naughty list for life, a prospect neither child wants.
Now it’s up to this unlikely trio to save the holiday no matter what’s thrown their way.
