The Haunting of Bly Manor is now streaming on Netflix, is it worth watching?

The highly anticipated anthology series, The Haunting of Bly Manor is now streaming on Netflix right on time for the Halloween season. Is it worth watching this weekend? Here’s what we think!

Season 1 is The Haunting of Hill House, which follows an estranged family who holds old grudges and secrets. At the center of it all, however, there’s unconditional love in the very emotional season. But surrounding it, there are chills and frights hiding in every corner.

No, literally. The creators proudly sneak in ghosts and creepy shadows for audiences to find. It’s worth watching it twice as viewers are too busy focusing on the story to pay much attention to the surroundings. Not to mention, the brilliant acting and clever writing make a second-watch highly enjoyable.

That said, how does The Haunting of Bly Manor compare, and is it worth adding to our Halloween binge-watch line up? Absolutely! Read on for our spoiler-free thoughts.

The Haunting of Bly Manor offers a good blend of emotions and scares

Just as the first installment, Bly Manor has a lot of heart and offers many mysteries for audiences to patiently unpack. You’ll find yourself reaching for the tissues after learning about some of the character’s stories and fates.

Bly Manor doesn’t rely on jump scares or violence to make an impact. It does it alone with its story and performances, particularly that of Victoria Pedretti, who continues to prove her amazing talent.

Amelie Bea Smith and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, who portray Flora and Miles respectively, also offer a gut-punch of talent and emotions. Here for the scares? There’s plenty of them!

The Bly Manor is packed with surprises and haunting ghosts. Just as the first, be prepared to search for hidden ghosts and spirits hiding throughout the series. The scares are frightening in the sense that they are deep and meaningful, which always sticks to one more than a pointless jump scare.

All in all, Bly Manor is very well worth watching and sure to become one of the most popular shows on Netflix this season.
