Hubie Halloween is one of the five Netflix movies to watch this weekend

It doesn’t matter if you’re looking for comedy or drama this weekend. There are Netflix movies for everyone available.

There’s even a special for the kids. Since it’s one episode, it can be viewed as a movie. Even though it’s on the short-side, kids will view it like a movie if you tell them. At least, our youngest does!

It’s time to narrow down the selection of Netflix movies with these five top picks.

Hubie Halloween

You’re either going to love or hate this movie. Isn’t that always the case with Adam Sandler? Hubie Halloween is about a good-natured community volunteer who is also just a little eccentric. This Halloween, he finds himself in the middle of a murder investigation. Being pranked all the time, he thinks it’s yet another, but he soon realizes that this is very real.

Super Monsters: Dia de los Monsters

If there’s something Super Monsters knows how to do, it’s how to create an excellent Halloween special. This isn’t the first time one has been made, and kids love them every single time. One of the things I love as a parent is how the specials (and the series as a whole) teaches children about the different cultures. In Super Monsters: Dia de los Monsters, we head to Vida’s hometown to learn all about Día de los Muertos.

The 40-Year-old Version

Definitely not to be confused with The 40-Year-Old VirginThe 40-Year-Old Version is about a woman on a mission. Radha Blank wrote and directed this Sundance Festival winner. It follows a woman who is about to turn 40. Before that happens, she wants to reinvent herself into the rapper she’s always wished she could be.

Her

We move to some of the Netflix movies that dropped earlier this month. The first is Her, starring Joaquin Phoenix as Theodore Twombly. Theodore is an introverted writer and decides to buy an AI system that will help him write. He soon learns all about the AI’s learning capabilities and falls in love with the computer system. It’s a sci-fi romance with some bittersweet stories to tell.

Cape Fear

Prefer a thriller? We’ve got you covered. Based on The Executioners by John D. MacDonald, Cape Fear follows Max, a man who served 14 years in prison for rape. When he’s released, he decides to stalk Sam and his family to gain revenge for concealing evidence that could have exonerated him. Robert De Niro, Gregory Peck, and Jessica Lange star in this thrilling ride.
