23. Half & Half

Season: 1-4

Created By: Jeffrey Klarik

Starring: Rachel True, Essence Atkins, Chico Benymon, Valarie Pettiford, Telma Hopkins, Alec Mapa

Release Date: Thursday, Oct. 15

Earlier this summer, Netflix gave us all a brief reprieve from this unrelenting year and surprised us with a very special gift. Beginning with Moesha, the streaming service acquired and released a handful of fan-favorite classic Black sitcoms from the ’90s and ’00s, including Girlfriends and Sister, Sister. This month, three more sitcoms debut for fans to relive for the first time on a streamer

Half & Half stars Rachel True and Essence Atkins as half-sisters Mona and DeeDee, who are working to repair their estranged relationship now that they’re adults. The series ran for four seasons of 91 episodes on UPN but was unfortunately canceled due to the network’s merger with The WB to form The CW in 2006. However, now it’s time to travel back in time for some laughs and sisterly bonding with one of the most underrated sitcoms. Add all four seasons of Half & Half to your watch list on Oct. 15.

22. One on One

Season: 1-5

Created By: Eunetta T. Boone

Starring: Flex Alexander, Kyla Pratt, Kelly Perine, Sicily, Robert Ri’chard, Jonathan Chase, Camille Mana, Nicole Paggi, Ray J

Release Date: Thursday, Oct. 15

Flex Alexander stars in One on One as Flex Washington, a former NBA player and current sportscaster, who suddenly becomes a full-time single father when his daughter Breanna (Kyla Pratt) moves in with him. The series tracks their ups and downs as a family and the humorous situations they get into at home and in their personal lives. One on One ran for five seasons of 113 episodes on UPN and, like Half & Half, was canceled due to declining ratings and The CW’s creation. Give the oldie but goodie a binge-watch on Oct. 15!
