Halloween movies and shows: 22. Hush
Netflix fans likely remember Kate Siegel from her role in The Haunting of Hill House, she also stars in The Haunting of Bly Manor, which drops on Netflix in October 2020.
Siegel also appears in Gerald’s Game, so she’s no stranger to the horror genre or the streaming titan, but this movie may have been overlooked when it premiered in 2016.
The slasher film, which is directed by Mike Flanagan, the creator of Hill House and Bly Manor, sees the actress play Maddie, a woman who is deaf. Hoping to find inspiration alone in the woods (and escaping a complicated relationship), Maddie works on her new book. Soon, she realizes she is not alone and the killer that’s out there discovers Maddie isn’t able to hear him.
Halloween movies and shows: 21. As Above, So Below
This movie still gives me chills! As Above, So Below is not for the faint of heart and definitely not for those who are claustrophobic! The 2014 movie stars Perdita Weeks, Ben Feldman, Edwin Hodge and others.
The movie is featured in a “found footage” style, which makes it even more creepy. As Above, So Below follows a crew of explorers led by archaeologist Scarlett Marlowe (Weeks) who visit the Catacombs of Paris.
They visit the catacombs hoping to go on a historic mission of finding Flamel’s Philosopher’s Stone, which, according to its legend, can grant eternal life. What they find instead is their own personal hell.
