Searching for an underrated gem you likely missed due to bigger features on the streaming network? Look no further than Marianne! I bumped into the French thriller as I was searching for something new (and scary) to watch.

Though it doesn’t feature the best translations or subtitles, it’s very easy to follow along. The story centers on Emma (Victoire Du Bois), a young and popular author who writes novels based on a witch named Marianne that haunted Emma and her friends as children. When Emma decides to end the novel series, Marianne returns, and the witch doesn’t want to leave empty-handed.

Halloween movies and shows: 5. The Haunting of Bly Manor

After you’ve watched The Haunting of Hill House, wait for the release of The Haunting of Bly Manor on Oct. 9, 2020. However, there’s no need to watch these two seasons in order. Although some of the same actors return, both seasons feature unique and different stories.

I’ve yet to watch Bly Manor, so I can’t really compare the two, but if Hill House is of any indication, Bly Manor is going to be amazing and frightening.

Bly Manor follows a young nanny who is hired to take care of two orphaned children in a haunted manor that terrorizes everyone who comes near it.
