5 good Netflix shows to watch on Netflix this weekend

The weekend is upon us once again, and that means it’s time to watch some good Netflix shows. We are only into the second weekend of September, and there have been and will continue to be some great TV releases on Netflix.

Below, we shared the list of five good Netflix shows to watch this weekend.

1. Girlfriends

On the 20th anniversary of the UPN series, all eight seasons of Girlfriends are available to stream on Netflix. The series aired from 2000-2008, starting on UPN and then moving to The CW before it was canceled in 2008.

Tracee Ellis Ross stars in the series along with Golden Brooks, Persia White, and Jill Marie Jones, who play a group of best friends living in LA.

The series follows the girls who face the ups and downs that life throws at them but do so while supporting one another. They come from different backgrounds but learn to create a bond of lasting friendship.

In 2019, the cast reunited in an episode of Black-ish that airs on CBS.

2. America’s Book of Secrets

Currently, the first season of America’s Book of Secrets is available on Netflix.  Season 2 will be released on Sept. 15, so you have plenty of time to watch the first season if you haven’t already.

This series shows an inside look into stories and places that are always kept hidden from public view. The Pentagon, Area 51, the FBI, and even the White House. Each episode digs deeper into the backstory of these familiar institutions.

3. The Curse of Oak Island

Season 2 of The Curse of Oak Island will be coming to Netflix on Sept. 15. You can view season 1 now.

This series follows two brothers as they search for a mysterious treasure on Oak Island in Nova Scotia. This treasure has been a source of intrigue for over 200 years. The Lagina brothers have purchased the rights to the majority of the island, enabling them to try and solve the mystery around this island.

Many people have died in the search for the treasure, and the Lagina brothers hope to avoid the ‘curse’ of the island. The brothers use modern technology and American know-how in their search.

4. Meateater

The first half of season nine of Meateater will arrive on Netflix on Sept. 16. That may not give you time to binge the first eight seasons, but you can at least get started before then.

Host Steven Rinella is a hunter, author, cook, and conservationist that travels the world to the most beautiful regions to hunt game and show ways to prepare it.  He has a strict field to plate policy, and nothing he kills goes to waste.

5. Unsolved Mysteries

Volume 2 of Unsolved Mysteries will be coming to Netflix in October. Now is your chance to binge volume one to be ready for the second installment.

This series, a reboot of the tv series that began in the late 80s, takes a looks into cold cases, mysteries, and paranormal events. Unlike the original version, there is no narrator for these episodes.

The first volume consisted of six episodes, and volume two will also have the same number of episodes. The reboot has done very well with viewership on Netflix.
