All 10 episodes of Away, starring Hilary Swank, will be on Netflix tonight
Earlier this year, we got the space comedy Space Force. Now it’s time for something more serious. Away season 1 is coming to Netflix tonight.
You’ll be able to watch Away from 3:01 a.m. ET on Friday, Sept. 4. If you’re on the west coast, you’re only waiting until 12:01 a.m.
This is one of those shows that has been inspired by an Esquire magazine article. It told the story of Scott Kelly’s year-long mission away from home. In the series, the characters are embarking on a mission that will take three years.
What to expect in Away season 1
Hilary Swank stars as Emma Green. She’s an American astronaut who is faced with commanding a crew to the international space station. It’s something that many astronauts will look forward to, but Emma is leaving a husband and teenage daughter behind at a time when they need her the most.
On top of that, this is a three-year-long mission. Is it possible for everyone to support her following this dream? There is certainly going to be an element of the guilt many women face at work. How can we be mothers and employees at the same time?
Mixed within the family drama, there is a story of humanity and hope. We get to know the other characters who will make up the team, characters who will need to work together if they want to make their entire mission a success.
Ato Essandoh, Mark Ivanir, Ray Panthaki, Vivian Wu, Talitha Bateman, and Josh Charles also star in the series.
There are 10 episodes to watch
This is a series that’s about the traditional length for Netflix. There are 10 episodes to binge-watch, all dropping at the same time.
Showrunner and creator Andrew Hinderaker has written the first episode, as well as three other episodes. Ed Zwick has directed the premiere episode and also serves as an executive producer.
Away season 1 is streaming on Netflix tonight.
