Watch Stranger Things and other Netflix movies and shows for free

If you don’t have a Netflix subscription, you can watch 10 select Netflix movies and shows right now, including the mega-hit Netflix series, Stranger Things.

According to a report from Deadline, Netflix is rolling out a few of its new movies and shows to non-subscribers as a way of enticing those non-subscribers to become Netflix regulars.

You can watch the first episode of Stranger Things on Netflix right now for free, along with other hits shows like Our Planet, Love is Blind, Grace and Frankie, When They See Us, Elite, and The Boss Baby: Back in Business.

You can also watch hit Netflix movies like Murder Mystery, The Two Popes, and Bird Box on Netflix right now for free.

Deadline is reporting that all you have to do is visit netflix.com/watch-free to see which Netflix movies and shows are available to stream for free right now.

It will be really interesting to see if this turns into a regular thing for Netflix. The streaming network is always testing new technology and marketing strategies. I can see how this one might actually work to Netflix’s advantage in the coming years and as the streaming wars heat up.

Imagine if the first episode of every Netflix show was available to stream for free. Would-be subscribers could search through the list and try to watch certain shows before committing to the monthly subscription to watch more. I think there’s potential for an idea like that for Netflix.

On the flip side, we have to wonder how many people in the United States don’t have access to a Netflix subscription. Whether they pay for it or password share with family, friends or roommates, I’d bet that a significant percentage of Americans can watch whatever they want on Netflix pretty easily. It might be different around the world.

If that’s true, there isn’t a lot more Netflix can do to make people subscribe, other than cracking down on password sharing, which they’ve said they would not do yet.

So, this marketing strategy might not work that well for Netflix, although I think it has potential.

We’ll continue to keep you posted on the success or failure of Netflix making some of its hit movies and shows available to stream for free. Stay tuned!
