Lucifer season 5, episode 8 recap: “Spoiler Alert”

What a way to end Lucifer season 5, part 1! Did you see that coming? Please note there are huge spoilers ahead.

From a big betrayal to an even bigger character introduction, the first part of Lucifer season 5 delivered everything we could have wanted. How did everything fit into that episode? If you were worried about things feeling rushed or feared the story would drag along, this episode alone has proved us wrong and settled our worries.

So much happened in episode 8, titled “Spoiler Alert,” let’s recap the episode by highlighting the top five takeaways.

5 takeaways from Lucifer season 5, part 1: Episode 8

1. Lucifer is invulnerable again

Episode 7 ends with Dan shooting Lucifer in the chest. To Lucifer and Chloe’s surprise, Lucifer is just fine! The bullet bounced right off. They’re shocked but relieved that even though Lucifer is right next to Chloe, he’s invulnerable. But what has changed?

Chloe is furious at Dan but understanding of his feelings. She tells him that Lucifer is a good person and the deep inside Dan knows this. Dan leaves angry and we don’t see him until closer to the end of the episode.

2. Ella and Pete

Why do bad things happen to good people? Here’s Ella, finally giving a seemingly good guy a chance, and Pete turns out to be the worst of the worst!

When Ella goes to Pete’s home to get some research on the killer, she finds a secret room behind the TV wall. She’s shocked to learn he is the original serial killer. I have to say, Pete seemed strange, but I never would have guessed he was the killer.

Sure, some of her old flames have been involved in crimes one way or another, but Pete takes the cake! He is an actual serial killer! Such a psychopath! He even tries to kill Ella, but she bravely fights back and is able to get out. I was so worried something terrible would happen to her, I’m glad she’s okay!

3. Lucifer’s revenge on Dan

After getting shot by Dan, Lucifer begins to plot revenge — nothing serious! First, he plans on putting a snake in Dan’s drawer to scare him, but Chloe talks him out of it.

This childish plan for revenge distracts Lucifer so much that he misses a call from Chloe so she leaves a voicemail. She’s not able to finish her message because she is grabbed by someone we aren’t able to identify at the time.

When Lucifer listens to it he immediately goes to her home worried out of his mind.

4. Who took Chloe?

Lucifer and Ella are on the case! Chloe’s lead doesn’t take them to her, unfortunately, but they do find new evidence. Now that they have new leads, Lucifer reaches out to Maze for help.

What’s Maze good at? Torture, of course! She tries to get more information out of the Whisper Killer copycat, but isn’t able to find out where Chloe is.

Chloe is still nowhere to be found, and that’s because Michael is the one who took Chloe. With Dan’s help, they Lucifer, Maze, and Dan race to find her.

5. God checks in on his children

Maze is still in a vulnerable state, so Michael takes advantage of her and promises her a soul, which is all she’s been wanting.

Meanwhile, Chloe believes Lucifer is pushing her away and that’s why he is invulnerable now. Not to mention, Lucifer has never said “I love you” to her, which is an idea Michael put inside her head. Lucifer isn’t able to tell her because he notices she’s frozen.

Everyone but Michael, Lucifer, Amenadiel, and Maze are frozen.

Maze is confused so she teams up with Michael. Lucifer still doesn’t know how to treat Maze and tells her she’s “just a demon” so she can’t have a soul. He didn’t mean it that way, but he’s always been so blunt.

The four give us an epic fight! But there are no winners as their father, God (Dennis Haysbert), appears to stop things. He tells them he hates it when his children fight.

What an ending! What will their father tell them? How much of Dennis Haysbert will we see in Lucifer season 5, part 2? We have so many questions!
