Lucifer season 5, episode 2 recap: “Lucifer! Lucifer! Lucifer!”

A harsh truth and surprise cameo are the highlights of Lucifer season 5, episode 2.

The second episode of Lucifer season 5 sees Michael’s plans nosedive to the ground, but from the glare he gives Amenadiel before disappearing, we know he’s plotting Plan B. What is this angel up to?

Lucifer season 5, episode 2, titled “Lucifer! Lucifer! Lucifer!,” also hits Chloe Decker with a harsh truth. Speaking of truth, what is Linda hiding? And what about that amazing surprise cameo? Who saw that coming? We love it when the writers give us treats like these!

Let’s recap Lucifer season 5, episode 2 by highlighting the five biggest takeaways! As always, please note there are spoilers ahead if you haven’t watch the episode yet. Go watch “Lucifer! Lucifer! Lucifer!” on Netflix before reading on.

5 takeaways from Lucifer season 5, part 1: Episode 2

1. Ella doesn’t find Lucifer attractive

While chatting about how much she misses Lucifer, Ella tells Chloe that she doesn’t miss him as much as Chloe does because she doesn’t find Luci attractive. Excuse me? We’ve seen Chloe’s taste in men, but is there a universe that wouldn’t classify Lucifer as attractive? I don’t think so.

In this episode, we even see Michael practice pretending to be Lucifer in front of the mirror…in the nude! Lucifans, you can’t say Netflix didn’t deliver this season. They are giving us all we want. Jokes aside, and not to hate on Ella, but she doesn’t have great taste in men.

2. Michael is boring and a big liar

Even though Michael is just as good looking as Lucifer, they couldn’t be any more different. Simply put, Michael is boring, and he’s also a huge liar.

We all know that Lucifer never lies, but Michael is no Lucifer! Lie after lie comes out of his mouth. And Chloe is quick to catch them all, she’s not a fan. But confronting him doesn’t get them anywhere, Michael continues to tell Chloe that things have simply changed, but not his love for her. Mhm, sure.

During an interrogation scene, Chloe is trying to bring out Lucifer’s fun side. But Michael misses all the opportunities to make inappropriate jokes, or ask the suspects about their darkest desires. And when Chloe gives Michael a flask, Michael is shocked and tells Chloe “it’s not even noon!” Boring.

3. Sharon Osbourne

What a cool surprise! Sharon Osbourne stars in this episode, and as herself! She’s one of the suspects who is interrogated by Michael and Chloe. During their talk, Sharon thanks Michael (believing he is Lucifer) for everything he has done for her husband, Ozzy.

Now, why am I not surprised Ozzy Osbourne and Lucifer are old friends? It was a lot of fun seeing Sharon Osbourne in the episode.

4. Maze and Michael

Maze is the first one to get Michael to reveal himself. She attacks him when he gets to the condo, believing he is Lucifer. Maze has a lot of resentment and anger towards Luci for leaving her. This is when Michael tells Maze the truth.

Maze is ready to attack again, but Michael makes her a proposition. We don’t get to listen to what that is, but we find out later. When Chloe visits Michael, she finds him and Maze making out. Chloe is shocked and torn. We know this isn’t the real Lucifer, but how could Maze do this to her?

5. Chloe knows the truth

Chloe pretends to understand Michael’s reasoning and agrees to meet up with him later. They are about to kiss when Chloe shoots Michael to prove he isn’t Lucifer. She tells Michael that she knew something was off about him from the moment she kissed him, but she knew for sure when she saw him kissing Maze. Chloe knows Lucifer would never do that to her. How sweet!

An angry Michael tells Chloe that she is a gift from God, a gift for Lucifer to be his “plaything.” Chloe doesn’t believe him and orders Michael to leave. Uh-oh, we’ll know this secret will come back later!

Bonus takeaway: Michael really messed with Linda’s head when he tells Linda that she fears being a bad mom. Later in the episode, we see Linda looking at an old photo of a mom and her baby. What’s Linda’s big secret? We’ll know soon!

In the final moments of the episode, Amenadiel descends to Hell to tell Lucifer that he needs to return. A worried Lucifer asks him what has happened and looks frightened. He has no idea!
