Netflix is adding 27 new movies and shows this week

August has arrived and while a lot of us are still social-distancing and hanging out at home, there is at least one thing that can help keep the boredom at bay: Netflix! Luckily, the streaming service has a ton of new movies and shows coming this week.

Whether you’re looking for something to entertain your kids, the last season of a Netflix sci-fi drama, or a documentary about guide dogs (the cuteness!!), Netflix has something for everyone.

Looking for some movies and shows to keep your kids busy when they aren’t virtual learning? Netflix has two new options for you to choose from. The first is the last installation of Guillermo Del Toro’s animated series, Tales of Arcadia. Wizards: Tales of Arcadia hits Netflix on Friday, Aug. 7 and follows the Arcadia heroes and Merlin’s apprentice as they go back in time to Camelot where the human, troll, and magic worlds are in conflict to see which one reigns supreme.

Take a peek at the trailer here:

The other option is a Magic School Bus movie, The Magic School Bus Rides Again: Kids in Space. It also comes to Netflix on Friday, Aug. 7 and is a spin-off special from Netflix’s new Magic School Bus series. As you can probably guess from the title, this time the class is going into outer space to see the International Space Station. But just seeing the space station would be too tame for this crew; they end up running from a huge tardigrade!

Looking for something a little creepier for the adults? Season 3 of The Rain is coming to Netflix on Thursday, Aug. 6. The Danish triller series follows two siblings who survive after most of the population is wiped out by a virus that’s spread through the rain. They join a group of survivors to try and find any other people who survived the virus.

Season 2 ended on a cliffhanger with Rasmus (one of the siblings) being kidnapped by the company that started the virus rain to begin with. This will be the final season of the show.

Take a look at what’s in store for season 3 here:

More in the mood for some doggos? Pick of the Litter is available to stream on Sunday, Aug. 2. The documentary follows a group of puppies as they train to become guide dogs for blind people. The film follows the pups for two years; from birth through their training.

Not every dog will make to becoming a helping hand (sobs), but we get to watch them along the way. If you don’t want to adopt all of these dogs by the end of the film, I don’t know what to tell you.
