For the first weekend of August 2020, Netflix has some excellent TV show choices for anyone looking for a superb binge for the weekend. The Umbrella Academy season 2 tops our list of good Netflix shows to watch this weekend, Aug. 1-2.

There aren’t too many new shows this weekend, other than The Umbrella Academy season 2. But, there are a few Netflix shows you have to see.

After you watch these five Netflix shows, there are always the old standbys like The Office, Parks and Recreation, and New Girl. But, it is also good to throw something new into the mix.

Below is a list of some great Netflix shows to watch this weekend!

 The Umbrella Academy season 2 

The Umbrella Academy season 2 was released on Friday, July 31. Fans were very anxious for the next installment of this series.

For those who don’t know, this Netflix original is based on the Dark Horse comic book series of the same name. The Umbrella Academy is a group of adopted sibling superheroes who have to save the world from the apocalypse.

This series has had positive reviews and great response from fans. Upon the release of the second season, it was already sitting on Netflix’s top ten list at number nine.

If you haven’t check this one out, you really should!

Last Chance U season 5 

The final season of Last Chance U was added to Netflix at the end of July.

For those who haven’t seen the show, Last Chance U is a sports docuseries that follows a group of young men and their journey to becoming stars in the NFL.

This season follows the players and coaches from Laney College in Oakland, California, after spending the first four seasons at East Mississippi Community College and Independence Community College.

This is the last season of the football side of the series, but fans will have basketball and cheer spins-offs of this series to look forward to.

Shameless season 10

The comedy-drama Shameless is a wildly popular series that follows Frank Gallagher (William H. Macy), a single father of six children and his dysfunctional family.

Shameless season 10 was released this week on Netflix, and it is already hovering around No. 1 on the Netflix Top 10 list.

Fans of this show rave about it, and it has been renewed for an 11th season. Shameless season 11 is also coming to Netflix, but it’s going to be a while.

The Rain

The Rain season 3 will be released on Aug. 6, and this will be its final season.

The Rain is a Danish post-apocalyptic series the follows siblings, Simone and Rasmus, who emerge from a bunker after six years. A virus that is carried by the rain has infected and wiped out the majority of people in Scandinavia. The siblings emerge from their bunker, finding other survivors while trying to locate their father.

Fans of the dystopian genre will be glad to know there is another series to binge.

Trinkets

The first season of Trinkets is already streaming on Netflix, and its second season will be available on Aug. 25. This weekend, you can start watching the first season in preparation for the second.

The series follows three friends, Elodie, Moe, and Tabitha, who meet in a Shoplifters Annonymous meeting. They form a lasting bond grounded in their similarities but strengthened by their differences. The trio helps one another navigate family and school problems along the way.

This series is based on a novel of the same name by Kirsten Smith.
