Unfortunately, August brings the finals seasons of a couple underrated Netflix original series. But that doesn’t mean new watchers shouldn’t jump on board in time to bid the ending series a final farewell. Trinkets, the teen drama series that premiered last summer, premieres its second and final season. Based on the young adult novel of the same name, Trinkets follows three teenage best friends who meet while attending a mandated Shoplifters Anonymous meeting.

28. The Promise

Release Year: 2016

Directed By: Terry George

Starring: Oscar Isaac, Charlotte Le Bon, Christian Bale, Daniel Giménez Cacho, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Rade Šerbedžija

If you haven’t heard of the historical drama The Promise, its streaming debut on Netflix will be the perfect time to watch the film starring Oscar Isaac and Christian Bale. The actors otherwise known as Poe and Batman star in The Promise, which centers on a love triangle that unfolds in the midst of the Armenian Genocide in the 1910s. Although the film underwhelmed at the box office, it still managed to earn middling reviews and a Grammy nomination for the Chris Cornell song of the same name. Don’t miss The Promise on Netflix beginning Aug. 8.

As promised, here’s another docuseries from Netflix, with plenty more still on the way further into this list. The docuseries hones in on the unseen background of immigration in America and talks with a number of Immigration and Customs Enforcement workers for an unprecedented look at the failings and futures of immigration in America. Watch all six parts when the series premieres on Aug. 3.

26. Death at a Funeral

Release Year: 2010

Directed By: Neil LaBute

Starring: Loretta Devine, Peter Dinklage, Danny Glover, Regina Hall, Martin Lawrence, James Marsden, Tracy Morgan, Chris Rock, Zoë Saldaña, Columbus Short, Luke Wilson, Keith David, Ron Glass, Kevin Hart

Release Date: Wednesday, Aug. 19

Celebrating its 10th anniversary earlier this year, 2010 dark comedy Death at a Funeral arrives on Netflix a little late to the party. But there’s never a bad time for laughs. A remake of the 2007 British film of the same name, stars Chris Rock as Aaron, who finds himself dealing with more than grief when preparing for the funeral of his late father. The film was a modest box office hit and garnered mixed reception from critics, but the 10-year-old dark comedy will definitely give you something to laugh about during dark times.
