Cursed ending explained: What happened to Nimue?

Cursed is the best new show on Netflix! The Netflix original series topped the list of the Top 10 Netflix movies and shows right now.

And now, everyone is getting excited for Cursed season 2!

First, let’s talk about the ending of Cursed season 1, which is based on the illustrated novel of the same name from creators Tom Wheeler and Frank Miller.

What happens at the end of Cursed season 1?

A LOT happens at the end of Cursed season 1. We see several major powerplays that will shape the course of the rest of the series, assuming Netflix renews the series for season 2.

Morgana, who becomes the widow, and Nimue free Merlin from King Uther’s camp after the Red Paladins turned on King Uther and his men.

On the run, Merlin eventually grabs the sword and fulfills destiny. He summons lightning and kills all the Red Paladins who were tracking them from the camp. Merlin appears to have infinite power.

Is Nimue dead?

In the final scenes of season 1, Sister Iris shoots Nimue with arrows as Merlin, Morgana, and Nimue are crossing a waterfall. Nimue falls over the waterfall, and that’s the last we see of the character.

So, is Nimue dead?

Maybe! It’s possible that Nimue could be dead, if she can actually die? Does anyone know if she can truly die after what happened to her as a kid?

Instead, I think she will survive, somehow, and return for season 2. Nimue’s quest is finally complete from the first season, but this can’t be the last we see of this character who is destined to become the Lady of the Lake.

After shooting Nimue, Sister Iris becomes part of the Trinity. I’m hoping to see Nimue and Iris battle it out again!

Other characters from Arthurian legend revealed

Throughout the first season, there was a lot of mystery surrounding these characters. We knew who Nimue, Arthur, Merlin, King Uther, and others were from Arthurian legend, but we didn’t know how the other characters would factor into the story.

At the end of the first season, the board has now been set. We know Squirrel is Percival and the Weeping Monk is Lancelot.

I’m really excited to see where this series moves toward in season 2! I think we’ll see a lot more similarities between this story and more commonly know stories based on Arthurian legend.
