Cursed looks like a must-watch for fans of The Witcher

Cursed, an Arthurian tale, looks like it is going to be a must-watch for fans of the most popular Netflix Original ever made, The Witcher.

Netflix’s newest fantasy series has finally dropped on the streaming platform and it is certainly looking like a must-watch for fans of The Witcher. Based on the novel written by Thomas Wheeler, Cursed stars 13 Reason Why actress Katherine Langford.

The Netflix Original is an Arthurian tale and will focus on Katherine Langford’s character, Nimue. A young woman who has the power of the famous sword Excalibur, Cursed is essentially an origin story of the famous Lady of the Lake.

We will see how the sword of Excalibur finds its way into the hands of Arthur. We will also see how Nimue becomes the Lady of the Lake. Considering the title of the Netflix Original you can bet the ending will be a tragic one.

Now just because it is an Arthurian tale don’t expect this series to be childish. While most Arthurian Tales are aimed at a younger audience. Cursed is definitely not.

Netflix has released several trailers and they paint a very clear picture of what is to come. A gritty and violent world filled with fantasy, action, and adventure. Just like The Witcher.

Will it be as successful as The Witcher?

While fans of The Witcher should tune in to Cursed. Don’t expect the Arthurian tale to be as successful. While the new Netflix Original is aimed at a larger audience, both adults and teenagers, while The Witcher was aimed at adults. Cursed does not have such an initial large fan base.

The Witcher has a huge fan base due to the novels, games, and comics. Thomas Wheeler’s novel which gave birth to Cursed certainly has its fan base, but it is nothing in comparison to our favorite mutated monster hunter.
