The One and Only Ivan trailer offers first glimpse at Disney Plus original

Disney Plus has released an official trailer for The One and Only Ivan movie that will release to the streaming service on August 14.

The One and Only Ivan is a Disney film that was initially scheduled for a theatrical release on August 14. But, due to all of the movie theater shutdowns, Disney has announced the film will be featured on its streaming service Disney Plus. 

The movie based on the children’s novel of the same name written by K.A. Applegate is about a silverback gorilla named Ivan.

Variety reported that the film features an all-star cast with Byran Cranston and Ramon Rodriguez, and will feature the voices of Angelina, Jolie, Sam Rockwell, Danny Devito, Helen Mirren, and Chaka Khan. Featuring a combination of live-action and CGI, this film will undoubtedly be entertaining for the whole family.

Disney Plus released the official trailer on its Twitter page, and it gives us a good look at what to expect from this movie.

The One and Only Ivan trailer and synopsis

The film follows the heart-warming story of Ivan, a 400-pound silverback gorilla who lives in a suburban shopping mall with Stella, the elephant, and Bob, the dog. Ivan was captured from the jungle as an infant and raised as a human by Mack (Cranston) and his family.

When Ruby, a baby elephant that has been separated from her family, joins Ivan and the gang, it makes Ivan start to question where he came from. Ivan has very few memories of the jungle where he was born.

When Ivan starts to draw pictures, Mack knows this will be something his audience at the Big Top Mall will want to see. But, what follows is something that Mack never expected.

The book was published in 2012 and has received many awards, including the Newbery Medal. Although the story is fictional, it is inspired by the true story of Ivan, an actual gorilla who was captured as a baby, raised by humans, and eventually lived at the Atlanta Zoo until his death in 2012 at the ripe old age of 50.
