Netflix is adding 23 new movies and shows this week

We’ve made it to the first full week of July and besides summer finally being in full swing, this also means a bunch of new movies and shows on Netflix this week. Whether you’re looking for a new action movie, a travel documentary series with Zac Efron, or new Australian limited series, there’s something for everyone coming to the streaming service this week.

On Friday. July 10, The Old Guard, starring Charlize Theron, hits Netflix. The film follows Andy (played by Theron) who is the head of a team of secret mercenaries. But there’s a twist. They happen to be immortal! But when their secret is revealed, they must fight to keep their team together while also dealing with a new member coming into the fray. Charlize Theron kicking butt is all I need to know about this movie to want to watch it.

If you’re more in the mood for something a bit lighter in tone, season 1 of Down to Earth with Zac Efron might be just the show for you. It comes to Netflix on Friday, July 10. The series follows the famous actor as he travels around the world looking for healthier and more sustainable ways to live. Efron also travels with wellness expert, Darin Olein and together they look at different solutions to the climate crisis.

If you’re more interested in a drama series, Stateless hits Netflix on Wednesday, July 8. The limited series stars Cate Blanchett, Dominic West, Jai Courtney, Fayssal Bazzi, Asher Keddie, and Yvonne Stahovski and follows the lives of a former cult member, a refugee and his family, a father suffering in a dead-end job, and a bureaucrat whose secrets are about to come out. As the series goes on, these four  stories converge around an immigrant detention center.

This week also brings season 1 of the anime series, Yu-Gi-Oh on Wednesday, July 8 and season 1 of the animated series,The Epic Tales of Captain Underpants in Space on Friday, July 10.
