Netflix adding 19 new movies and shows this week

A new week is here and that means Netflix is adding a bunch of new movies and shows. Whether you’re looking to watch a new comedy based on an international singing competition, a new season of a Netflix Original show, or a documentary about a story that blew up last year, the streaming service has something for you.

On Friday, June 26, Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga hits Netflix. The comedy stars Will Ferrell and Rachel McAdams as Lars and Sigrit, two musicians who dream of being on Eurovision and making it big. They get their chance when they are chosen to represent their country, but not everyone believes that they can do it all, including Lars’s father played by Pierce Brosnan. This looks hilarious!

Or maybe you’re in the mood for something a little bit darker? On Saturday, June 27, season 3 of Dark begins streaming on Netflix. The Netflix Original series revolves around four families in Germany and the disappearance of two kids that reveals how they are all connected. But this series isn’t just another family drama; it has a supernatural element as well.

Season 2 ended with alternate world Martha standing over original Martha’s dead body and original Jonas standing nearby in shock. What will happen next is anyone’s guess.

If you’re looking for a true story, you might want to check out Athlete A on Wednesday, June 24. The documentary follows the reporters at the Indianapolis Star as they break the story about the rampant cases of sexual assault in USA gymnastics by Larry Nassar. The reporters as well as many of the gymnasts involved, including Maggie Nichols, speak throughout the film. You might need to mentally prepare yourself before watching this one.
