What It’s About: I Am Not Okay With This debuted in February to positive reviews. The teen comedy-drama has a surprising number of comedic moments despite the fact that there is something insidious happening in the community. Case in point, heads explode.

The supernatural elements set the show apart from some of the other Netflix teen fare, though the comparisons to Stranger Things immediately jump to the fore. For Netflix viewers sheltering in place this spring, it was the perfect kind of show to enjoy in a binge-watching session, and that should make it an easy show for Netflix to renew.

Why It Could Be Cancelled: Showrunners Jonathan Entwistle and Shawn Levy talked with The Hollywood Reporter in March about the possibility of a second season for the show. At the time of their interview, which was a week before COVID-19 shutdowns started, they were optimistic about being renewed and expressed that they have plans for season 2.

With so many uncertainties at the moment, producing a high-concept show might not be something Netflix wants to get into right now, which could put I Am Not Okay With This on the chopping block.
