Netflix is well known for saving popular shows that were canceled at other networks and giving them a new home, like Lucifer, Longmire, and more. Unfortunately, Netflix has also developed a reputation, fair or unfair, for canceling good Netflix shows before they have a chance to take off.

Below, we shared the list of Netflix shows canceled in 2020. We’ll continue to add shows to the list as Netflix cancels them.

By our unofficial tally, there have been 12 canceled Netflix shows so far this year. There have, unfortunately, been some really good Netflix shows that got the ax this year.

Overall, Anne with an E was probably the most popular and best show that was canceled. That was not entirely a Netflix decision. The series is a co-production with CBC in Canada, and that could have had something to do with the decision to cancel the show. Let’s be honest, Anne with an E deserved a fourth season.

Netflix also just canceled Chilling Adventures of Sabrina after two seasons. The final episodes will be released on the streaming service sometime in late 2020.

Messiah, Spinning Out, and AJ and the Queen were also shows with decent followings, but sadly, not enough viewers tuned in for those shows that premiered in January.

So far, I’ve been the most bummed out about Astronomy Club, the sketch series. I love sketch comedy, and it’s really bummer fans didn’t show up and watch this series.

Unfortunately, there are probably going to be more Netflix shows canceled later this year. We’re very hopeful that our favorites will come back for more seasons, but this is a tough business, and there’s a lot of money on the line.
