It’s funny because it’s incredibly true. You knew you were up too late when you encountered Lopez’s eponymous sitcom in the early hours of the morning. In lieu of revisiting that nostalgia with the sitcom on Netflix, the comedian makes his stand-up special debut on the streaming service this June.

In his first Netflix one-hour special, and his first stand-up special in eight years, George Lopez returns to the stage for George Lopez: We’ll Do It for Half. From the Warfield Theatre in San Francisco, California, Lopez stays true to his comedy roots and tackles all things related to race, politics, and life lessons as they intersect with the Latino community. The comedian breaks down everything from cultural divides to emotional support animals, sex reveal parties to elevator etiquette and everything in between. It’s the highlight of the June comedy lineup.

George Lopez: We’ll Do It for Half marks the comedian’s first stand-up special for Netflix. The special follows in the footsteps of three HBO comedy specials: 2007’s America’s Mexican, 2009’s Tall, Dark, & Chicano and 2012’s It’s Not Me, It’s You. Lopez has also starred in three sitcoms playing fictionalized versions of himself to varying degrees of success. George Lopez ran for six seasons and 120 episodes, while Saint George was one-and-done and Lopez had two seasons. Only time will tell if We’ll Do It for Half opens the door for more George Lopez on Netflix.
