Whenever someone says “there’s something for everyone,” there’s a little voice in the back of your head that’s probably like, “yeah, yeah, yeah, sure.” But when we say that there’s something for everyone coming to Netflix this June, that’s just the cold, hard truth. Comedy, drama, action, adventure, animated, feel-good, throwback — it’s all here. And for those that favor festival flicks and foreign films, there’s a small selection of those as per usual. One of this month’s best bets, Nobody Knows I’m Here, was supposed to debut at Tribeca, but now it’s one of June’s top new titles.

Nobody Knows I’m Here, or Nadie Sabe Que Estoy Aquí, centers on Memo Garrido, who was once upon a time a child artist in the Latin music scene in the ’90s. Decades removed from his success in music, Memo lives in total seclusion in the depths of southern Chile, with little to no ties to the rest of the world. When he unexpectedly encounters Marta, his world shakes up and gets a lot less smaller. Once and for all, Memo must confront the confounding event that forced his career to an end and, surely, climb his way out of the seclusion that’s cut him off from everything.

Nobody Knows I’m Here comes from director Gaspar Antillo, who makes his directorial debut with the Tribeca Film Festival selection. Since the film wasn’t able to screen at the festival due to the novel coronavirus global health crisis, there’s isn’t advance buzz circling the film as you could typically expect. The film originates from Chile, where it’s set, and will surely be submitted for the Academy Awards for Best International Feature Film. For something a bit different than the usual Netflix fare, make sure to add Nobody Know’s I’m Here to your watch list when it begins streaming on Netflix on June 24.
