Get ready to see some boots on the moon! The first trailer for Netflix’s Space Force starring Steve Carell and John Malkovich is here.

Netflix just shared the trailer for the new Netflix original comedy coming to the streaming service on Friday, May 29, and it looks incredible!

In the workplace comedy, Carell plays Gen. Mark Nairn, the man tapped to establish the Space Force, the US Military’s sixth branch. What’s the goal? From the synopsis, it appears that they want to put “boots on the moon” and militarize space.

Space Force has an A-list cast with Carell, John Malkovich, Noah Emmerich, Jane Lynch, Lisa Kudrow, Jimmy O. Yang, Tawny Newsome, Ben Schwartz, Diana Silvers, Fred Willard, Roy Wood, Jr., Alex Sparrow, Don Lake, and Jessica St. Clair. That’s the best cast of a Netflix comedy yet!

Check out the synopsis below, via Netflix:

"A decorated pilot with dreams of running the Air Force, four-star general Mark R. Naird (Steve Carell) is thrown for a loop when he finds himself tapped to lead the newly formed sixth branch of the US Armed Forces: Space Force. Skeptical but dedicated, Mark uproots his family and moves to a remote base in Colorado where he and a colorful team of scientists and “Spacemen” are tasked by the White House with getting American boots on the moon (again) in a hurry and achieving total space dominance."

Netflix announced Space Force way back in early 2019, and since then, this has been the show I’ve been waiting to see. I love The Office. Carell is one of my favorite actors, and Daniels is so, so good at social commentary. Needless to say, I have extremely high hopes for the series.

With so many stars involved and such a good premise, it’s easy to get a little too excited for a show like this. Am I worried Space Force won’t live up to the hype? Not really! This show has the potential to be outstanding and possibly the best Netflix comedy yet.

Daniels took the best workplace comedy of all time (The Office) to new heights. Yes, Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant created the UK version of the show, but there’s no debate that Daniels and his team took that idea and made something even bigger and better.

Michael Scott is the main reason, in my opinion, that The Office was such a huge success. Space Force, basically, has the military’s version of Michael Scott leading the most ridiculous branch to, likely, catastrophic consequences, or so it appears in the trailer.

That’s the recipe for success with a show like this!

Space Force trailer

Netflix’s has a great slate of original comedies, including Grace and Frankie, The Kominsky Method, Master of None, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, and more. From the trailer, Space Force looks funnier than all of them.

Now, all we have to do is wait until the end of the month to see what’s sure to be a great Netflix comedy!
