Netflix is adding 40 new movies and shows today

We have some great Netflix new releases today, including the new Ryan Murphy series Hollywood as well as Back to the Future and Jarhead, among others.

While March may have dragged on like it was the end of time, April went by relatively quickly and May is already here. This means a ton of stuff will be added to Netflix today. While not all of it is technically new, it’s either new to Netflix or coming back to Netflix after being away. It also might be new to you and gives you a chance to watch some movies and shows for the first time.

Since it looks like most of us will be stuck in our homes for at least a little while longer, new stuff on Netflix can feel like a godsend. And this month a few different franchises are being added to the streaming service, including the first two Back to the Future films, all three Jarhead movies, and the first three Underworld movies.. You can have a movie marathon to fit your mood.

You can also binge-watch Ryan Murphy’s latest Netflix show, Hollywood. The series stars Darren Criss, David Coremswet, Laura Harrier, Joe Mantello, Dylan McDermott, Holland Taylor, Jeremy Pope, Jim Parsons, and Patti LuPone. The show follows a bunch of actors and filmmakers as they try to make it big in Hollywood after World War II.

If you’re looking for a different type of historical series, season three of Medici is also being added to Netflix today. This is the last season of the series and shows what Lorenzo must do to save his city after his brother’s death. Medici stars Daniel Sharman, Francesco Montanari, Sarah Parish, and Alessandra Mastronardi.

Want to watch something a bit more fun? Both Charlie and the Chocolate Factory movies are hitting Netflix today. Whether you like the original 1971 Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory or the 2005 Tim Burton version, both are available for your viewing pleasure.
