5. BoJack Horseman

If you’re looking for a comedy but still want to stay on the darker side, BoJack Horseman is where it’s at! The animated series follows BoJack as he makes his way through life after being famous in the 80s and 90s.

The show is hilarious which makes it perfect for a night when all you can handle is getting a pizza delivered, but the humor is contrasted well with more serious issues like addiction, fame, depression, sexism, and racism.

Sometimes humor covers these difficult topics better than any serious show could and BoJack Horseman is the perfect example of that.  It strikes just the right balance of being very funny while not glossing over heavier topics.

4. Ozark

When I’m chilling out on the couch with a pizza, I want a show that’s going to completely pull me in and Ozark is certainly one of those shows. The drama starring Jason Bateman and Laura Linney follows the Byrde family as they move to the Missouri Ozarks. Why? Because Marty (played by Bateman) gets into a bit of trouble and needs to launder money for a drug dealer.

As the series goes on, his wife, Wendy (played by Linney), gets more involved in the criminal enterprise. The couple eventually comes to a head when they have differing ideas on what the business should be. There are also quite a few murders which always makes a show more interesting.

3. The Witcher

What goes better with a pizza than Geralt swearing at his lot in life? Nothing! Watching Geralt fight everyone, Ciri running for her life and scream-killing people, and Yennefer being the baddest witch ever is the perfect way to spend a Friday night with a couple of pizzas and a comfy blanket.

Since The Witcher premiered late last year, it has become a new fan-favorite. Fantasy always does a great job of pulling in the audience and taking them on a journey and The Witcher does that and more. Whether you’re watching it for the first time or the fifth, this is the show to watch if you’re looking to escape reality for a bit.

2. Peaky Blinders

Peaky Blinders features Cillian Murphy as a gangster, scheming to gain more power and killing anyone in his path. Do you need to know more? Ok, fine. The show begins in 1919 Birmingham, England and follows the Shelby gang as they cast off rivals, fall in love, make mistakes, grieve for those they lost, and make their way into the halls of government.

The series may be about a gang, but it’s also about family and the storylines that deal with the Shelby family are some of the best. While Tommy’s journey is the focus of the show, Aunt Polly and Arthur’s arcs could not be better written.

If you’re looking for a show that will draw you in from the first moment, Peaky Blinders must be your next binge-watch. Just make sure you don’t drop any pizza on your shirt because you’re too focused on the show.

1. The Office

While The Office isn’t technically a Netflix show, this list would be remiss without it. Having a pizza delivered and watching hours of Michael Scott be the most ridiculous boss sounds like the perfect way to spend a night to me. And that doesn’t even get into watching Jim and Pam fall in love or Dwight be Dwight or Toby be the saddest man ever.

All nine seasons are currently on Netflix for you to enjoy and if nothing else, it will provide you with a laugh or two and who couldn’t use that? The Office allows you to take a break from the news, enjoy your supreme, extra cheese pizza, and relax for a bit.
