Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown gave an update on the production of Stranger Things 4 while appearing on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.

Millie Bobby Brown was on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday night to play the Singing Whisper Challenge and provide an update on the status of Stranger Things 4.

Production on the show was halted earlier this year due to the coronavirus pandemic that has shut down production on several other shows, movies, professional sports leagues, schools, and everything else that hasn’t been ruled an essential business.

Stranger Things had already shot for a few weeks as the cast and crew were starting to get into a rhythm and develop some momentum toward the fourth season of the Netflix Original series. The world is still in a holding pattern due to COVID-19 but Brown says they’re all ready to get back to making this show as soon as it’s safe.

“[The crew] already shot two weeks in Lithuania… We were just about to get into it, but for everyone’s safety and well-being and health, obviously, production stopped,” Brown confirmed to Fallon. “But we’re ready to get back to work as soon as this is all over.”

The Stranger Things season 4 teaser trailer that revealed Hopper is still alive after the events of the season 3 finale will have to tide fans over until production can resume, more scenes are shot, and a full trailer can be released.

Fans were already bracing for a bit of a wait for the new season but the delayed production will only extend that wait. It could be 2021 before fans get to see Stranger Things 4.

In more light-hearted news, Brown and Fallon participated in the Singing Whisper Challenge where one mutes their call while the other tries to guess what song the muted person is singing.

It’s wholesome content we all could use right now. Brown sampled Dua Lipa’s “Don’t Start Now” and Luis Fonsi’s “Despacito” as she continued her streak of singing on The Tonight Show. It’s always a bit of a shock to hear her accent and her singing voice. She’s extremely talented.
