Pixar’s Onward is now on Disney Plus, which makes this the perfect time to catch up on any of the studio’s films you may have missed. If you liked Onward, here are five other Pixar movies you may want to watch on Disney Plus.

Before Onward came out, four of the previous five Pixar movies were sequels, which led to people questioning the studio’s integrity. This stretch came after their decade-long run of putting out excellent original films almost yearly.

But this year, Onward showed promising signs that Pixar can return to its high heights. It’s a fun and engaging movie about two elven brothers in the modern world who embark on a quest to bring their late father back to life in a world where fantasy creatures exist in our modern world.

If you enjoyed Onward, or if its premise seemed interesting to you, there are some other great Pixar movies to check out.

5. Brave

Part of what makes Onward appealing is its fantasy creatures. It’s fun to think about what the different species from Middle Earth would be like if they existed in the modern world instead of humans. Brave, on the other hand, takes this concept back to swords, bows, horses, and fantasy magic in medieval Scotland. It is entertaining and hilarious but includes an important message about how to communicate with those you love.

4. The Incredibles

If you’re looking for another movie full of action and amazement, The Incredibles is the perfect classic choice. It takes a look at a world where superheroes are outlawed and how those former superheroes deal with readjusting to everyday life. This movie, like so many others from Pixar, is about family and that is what really makes it hum. The excellent action will keep you engaged while the messages about family and reconciliation will have you thinking afterward.

3. Monsters, Inc.

This movie is the most similar to Onward functionally out of any Pixar movie. It’s a world very similar to our own except that it is inhabited by monsters instead of humans. Monsters, Inc. is a touching story about friendship, companionship, and learning what is important in life. Mike, Sully and Boo create such a unique bond that you can’t help but love it.

2. Finding Nemo

Finding Nemo is thematically similar to Onward in that both of their main characters are young sons on a mission to reconnect with their fathers. They create an earnest feeling that Pixar films are so adept at creating. Nemo’s earnestness brings with it an extra layer of heart and charm. Nemo’s little fin, Dory’s short term memory loss and all the various side characters are instantly iconic additions to Pixar’s long line of incredible characters.

1. Coco

This is one of my very favorite Pixar movies. Its musical and hilarious story drives home a similar message to Onward but in a different and more effective way. When Miguel finds himself in the land of the dead (don’t worry, it’s fun and not scary!), he finds out much more about his family history than he ever knew existed. Coco deals with memory and loss in the real world but gives you the tools to know how to cope, grow and move on. Similarly to Onward, you’ll be strongly equipped to think about loss in an intelligent and important way.
