Friends reunion special on HBO Max delayed indefinitely

The Friends reunion special date has been suspended indefinitely amid the coronavirus pandemic that will prevent the cast from getting together to film.
Fans of the hit series Friends have been very excited for the Friends reunion special that was set to air on HBO Max. Much of the filming world has had to shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the Friends reunion is among that list. The reunion special was set to air in May 2020 with the launch of the new streaming platform HBO Max.
There was much excitement when news of this special was initially released. Matthew Perry, who played Chandler, and someone who rarely interacts on social media, posted this tweet:
Fans immediately responded to his tweet with comments, including Friends gifs and quotes that his character Chandler would have used in response.
The most exciting part about the reunion is that all of the original cast members have agreed to be a part of it. Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc and Matthew Perry had all agreed to terms for the special.
This won’t be a scripted episode but rather a type of Q and A with the cast. And, it was reported that Ellen DeGeneres would act as the host for this long-awaited event.
When production was first postponed earlier in the year, the plan was to film in May ahead of the launch of the streaming service. But with the outbreak quarantines lasting longer than anticipated, that is no longer the case and the reunion is delayed indefinitely.
HBO Max reportedly spent $425 million for the rights to stream the series. Friends is the second most-streamed series on Netflix next to The Office, so that price is not surprising. Fans were very disappointed that the series was removed from Netflix in January 2020.
Being a huge Friends fan, I know the die-hard fans will understand why the reunion can’t take place right now, but when this special eventually releases, it’ll be worth the wait.
