2. The Ugly Truth

Release Year: 2009

Directed By: Robert Luketic

Cast: Katherine Heigl, Gerard Butler, Bree Turner, Eric Winter, Cheryl Hines and much more!

As you can see, Romantic comedies are a theme, and honestly, they are just a great choice for date nights. The Ugly Truth lands at no. 2 on the list. This film is one of my favorites that Netflix has to offer, date night or not.

Gerard Butler is fantastic in this movie and really shows his comedic side. Abby Ritcher, played by Katherine Heigl, works at a new station and faces a daily battle to outperform the other local news stations in the area. After weeks of underperforming, the station hires Mike Chadway, who is played by Gerard Butler, to help push a positive number for the station. It was a hire against Abby’s wishes.

Throughout the film, Chadway helps Ritcher date a doctor who she adores. But after spending months together on a daily basis, Chadway starts to fall for Ritcher in the process of helping her out with another man.

If you haven’t seen The Ugly Truth, it’s a must-watch to see what happens between Abby and Mike!

1. The Notebook

Release Date: 2004

Director: Nick Cassavetes

Cast: Rachel McAdams, Ryan Gosling, Tim Ivey, Gena Rowlands, James Garner and many more!

This had to be no. 1 on the list. Considered by some to be the best romantic movie of all time, The Notebook captures true love in the purest form.

Luckily, Netflix just added this film on Feb. 1, 2020.

The film is about two people who fall deeply in love. The characters are from totally different families with completely different upbringings. And, the film captures the true meaning of love.

Noah, who is played by Ryan Gosling, is considered to be a poor yet hardworking, passionate man who knows what he wants and that’s Allie. Allie is played by Rachel McAdams. Allie is far different from Noah, as far is upbringing and financial stability. Her family is considered to be on the richer side, and it’s no secret her parents are fully against her dating “the poor guy”, Noah.

When their social differences separate them, Noah and Allie are reconnected many years later and let’s just say the fire and passion never left them.

There’s so much more to the film and story, but of course, I don’t want to ruin it for the few people who have yet to see the film.

The Notebook is our top pick not only being one of the best romantic movies of all time but for being one of the best movies ever.

Talk about a great film for a date night.
